Mission/Day Descriptions
Each day we will. . .

Collect food for the local food shelf, VEAP. Packing or food based on the color of the day (non-perishables only).

Collect Box tops for education for the TLC-ELC.

Blast off for books
The 2018 ELCA Youth Gathering Houston Literacy Campaign.

Collect money each day for books for kids in Houston.

Mon - Red - Collect Pennies
Tue - Yellow - Collect Nickels
Wed - Orange - Collect Dimes
Thu - Blue - Collect Quarters
Fri - Green - Collect Dollars

Age Groups
(Preschool ages 3-4)

Preschoolers will be in small groups led by crew leaders who will accompany them to each of their destinations—

Hero Central Opening—Gather in the Sanctuary for story and song at 9:00 then go to Star Bases for:
Exploration stations—Hands-on activities that reinforce the Bible Point for the day.
Bible Storytelling—Stories from the Bible that bring the Bible point into focus.

● Snacks
Play—time on the playground for fun!

Gather together in Hero Central Closing in the Sanctuary


(5 year olds)

(Grades 1-2 Grads)

(Grades 2-3 Grads)

These (above) different crews will be led by crew leaders who will accompany them to each of these destinations:

Hero Central -Gather in the Sanctuary at 9:00 for story and song

Faith-finders Storytelling—be a part of  the Bible story for the day; each of which looks at God’s help

Monday—Samuel anoints David
Tuesday—Abigail saves David
Wednesday—Jesus goes to the temple
Thursday—The Beatitudes

Recreation Station—Active ways to explore the day’s theme
Science time—students will run experiments  and
activities which connect with the theme
Festival Crafts—create, create, create
Super Snacks— treats with a message
Hero Central closing—Back to the Sanctuary to let the Masterminds lead in a great review of the day’s songs and themes.


(Grads of grades 4, 5, and *6)

This group will prepare for the closing Hero Central every day, and their activities will include a mixture of:

Worship = Directing prayers and devotions for closing

Mission Report = Counting, weighing, and reporting each day’s totals of money, box tops, and food.

Drama = setting the day’s theme into real-life situations

Music = leading music and actions at the closing

Food = Help prepare and serve  and clean up Snacks


* 6th Grade Grads may opt to assist with VBS in a preschool small group or in an activity area—if so, use volunteer registration on other side
